It's great to see some off-roading in my old home of British Columbia. I recently bought a lightly used 2022 PW with only 16,000 miles on it and a ton of aftermarket goodies but there aren't a lot of places in Texas to really test it's capabilities so wife and I will be heading to Colorado soon to drive the Alpine Loop out of Lake City. I figure it's a nice, easy first off road test for the truck and I. Not as hairy as some of the places I off-roaded in B.C. but I'm going to build up my confidence in the truck's capabilities gradually. By-the-way, if you need some ideas for places to go in B.C. let me know. The Jade mine road out of Lytton is a good drive and it's fun to take the backroads through Seton Portage. Middlepass Creek road up over the Rockies from the Flathead Valley to Pincher Creek, Alberta is awesome!

I'm posting this comment for those who have no experience with the Ranger. I've had my 2019 Ranger for four+ years now. I love the truck. It was mostly used in town for the first year or so, a trip down forest roads every now and then. When I retired, we put 20,000 miles on it in about six months. A lot of interstate but at least half on US and state highways. I disagree with your opinion on road manners and power. I find it to ride like a Caddy at all highway speeds...even up to 95mph for stints when traffic was clear and me and other psychos thought it a good opportunity gas it up. I'm wondering if your experience with acceleration was due to putting your foot down, like you would have in the 70's, getting the four barrel to kick it in the rear. In that case, you'd have a point. I learned to smoothly press the accelerator until I was going like I wanted it to go. I let the torque do the work vs. trying to get it to max horsepower. Speed increase is smooth and you can feel the engine torquing up. I have never been in an underpowered passing situation with my Ranger. And I love gassing it up, it's just so fun. Not quite like a motorcycle, but still fun. Mileage, I have typically gotten 22 to 24 in town. Nobody would believe some of the mileage I achieved while traveling, so I'll omit that. I did use 92 octane almost all the time. I'm sure that improved mileage. But highway mileage was typically 26 to 28 mpg. Note that I do not drive for economy. I just drive. I live out in the country now and made the mistake of re-tiring with LTs (109T) vs. the OEM 112T tire. My gas mileage has consistently dropped a mile per. That's the only change to the truck that would account for the drop. That's not a big deal. Nor is the not-as-great ride quality. I've never sweated that in a truck. I will however go back to the OEM type tire next time...probably...or maybe the other direction :-). I know this comment is now useless if you're in the market for a 2024 Ranger. On the other hand, the new enhancements I've read about will only improve the truck. But I wouldn't trade mine just to have something newer. My Ranger is everything I was looking for and more. BTW, it's a basic Ranger STX, crew cab (which I specifically wanted...rather have the bed than unused seats), FX4, factory towing, full length running boards, bed liner and hard Ford tonneau. Awesome truck. Not a techy truck like our reviewer might appreciate. It's just a great workhorse and do-anything truck. That's really all a truck is for.

From the mountains of Montana, these things are amazing. Amazing in snow, ice, mud, gravel, sand, and rock. I daily them as well. Theres a slight humm, but they are a long ways from loud.

Fun fact your 5.9v8 is similar to 3.9v6 Currently changing timing cover itself timing gears gasket and seal. Am hoping just timing gears chain is bad even i do need change cover.

I don't appreciate the way you paraphrased and intentionally misrepresented tfl off roads comment about the rebel not flexing out on the rear due to its suspension. I think getting hung up on "three peak snowflake" rating is foolish. This is the actual metric of measurement for that symbol from the body of certification; "Testing measures a tire's acceleration traction on medium-packed snow only. Braking and turning on snow, along with ice traction are not components of the test. Tires branded with the 3PMSF symbol are expected to provide improved snow traction beyond a standard M+S branded all-season tire, however 3PMSF-branded all-season and all-terrain tires cannot match the traction of dedicated winter / snow tires in all winter weather conditions and should not be considered a replacement for where and when a dedicated winter tire is needed." So, a 10% increase in forward traction on medium packed snow. Not braking, turning, ice, temperature, etc. So purely a marketing.

5.9 cylinder heads cracking between the valves isn’t an issue. They will work just fine. Just an FYI. The crack doesn’t effect compression or water jacket at all.

Nissan did not change the body style for 2021. I bought one and love the truck. New engine and tranny. The new body style came 2022. I like mine better.
